Artist's Comments

This is a tributary piece to Ralph Steadman, a British illustrator, in his work "The Savage Journey" from the cover-art series for the film adaptation of Hunter Thompson's "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." Most of this was done in my spare time at school, pen and ink, and sharpies.only really major difference to the piece that sets it apart from the concept art is the character to the right, not driving. I just started drawing one day, liked the character, so I introduced him into this instead of the normal abstracted passenger, and I liked it. Sometimes I think he looks a little like myself. What really bothers me is that to take a picture of this, I had to use my sister's camera, and even though i had adequate lighting, the picture kept fading in light and dark, so I had to settle. Also, all the small little details I took the time to perfect, like, the hair of the right passenger, cross-hatchings, and slight shadings arent as noticable. Once more, all criticism, constructive and non, is all appreciated and encouraged. Thank you my people.
Edit: I also forgot to mention, this piece is 28x19 inches, my biggest out-of-school project yet!

Nice work! The abstract figures give the pic a kind of creepy feel to it. And the red car sets the entire thing off nicely.
